At the Bayer CropScience Institute Site, we are very proud of our people, our operations, our environmental and safety achievements and the high quality crop protection and animal health products we produce for the world.

Our facility is located along the Kanawha River in western West Virginia, one of the largest chemical manufacturing centers in the United States.  The Institute Site is one of the largest Bayer CropScience facilities in North America and is situated on approximately 460 acres, of which 90 acres are still available for future development.

Bayer Institute employs approximately one-thousand people within a unique industrial park operation that provides shared services to site tenants the Dow Chemical Company and Bayer Polymers.  These services include safety and industrial hygiene, training, plant technical services, maintenance, distribution, utilities and environmental protection.  Dow Chemical owns about one-half of the site's production units and employs about 125 people.  About one-half of Bayer's hourly workers are assigned to operate and maintain Dow's production facilities.

At the Institute Site, Bayer CropScience manufacturing units are responsible for producing carbamate-based technical grade ingredients.  These crop protection products are used on crops such as cotton, corn, fruit and potatoes as well as in many specialty agricultural markets worldwide to prevent crop damage due to insect infestation.

Our principle CropScience products include:

Additionally, Institute produces carbamate technical ingredients for  FURADAN® brand carbofuran, MARSHAL® brand carbosulfan, VYDATE® brand oxamyl, and methomyl.  These products are manufactured for other companies and do not carry the Bayer label.

Adisseo, formerly Aventis Animal Nutrition, also has a presence at the Institute Site with its RHODIMETTM AT-88 production facility.  AT-88 is the liquid analogue of an amino acid, Methionine.  Methionine is used as a nutritional poultry feed additive.
