The Institute Site positively impacts the economic well being of the Kanawha
Valley and seeks prosperity and growth for the future. With 1,000 employees,
Bayer CropScience is one of the largest employers in the greater Charleston,
W.Va. area. Annual payroll is over $50 million and payroll taxes are in excess
of $5,500,000. Property, sales and use taxes paid by Bayer CS are
approximately $3 million per year. Forty-five percent of the Institute site
employees, plus hundreds of retirees live in the communities adjacent to the
plant.

"Sailor's Delight" at the Institute Site
Bayer owns fixed assets, land and inventory worth nearly $400 million at the
Institute Site. Combined with the assets of the site partners, Institute has a
$1.4 billion gross replacement value.
